unTimed — Book Brief
WHY TIME MANAGEMENT IS A WASTE OF YOUR TIME
EXPLORE
Time is limited, but managing a life is about more than managing hours.
We can organise calendars, construct schedules and become increasingly efficient while still giving our attention to things that do not matter enough.
unTimed invites us to reconsider our relationship with time.
Rather than treating every hour as something to control, optimise or fill, it asks us to consider what deserves our time, attention and energy in the first place.
The deeper question is not simply:
“How can I manage my time better?”
It is also:
“What is worth giving my life to?”
CONSIDER
Efficiency is not the same as effectiveness.
Doing more in less time has limited value if what we are doing does not serve what matters.
Attention is a life resource.
Where we repeatedly place our attention can shape our relationships, work, wellbeing, priorities and experience of life.
Priorities require choices.
Giving time to one thing inevitably means that time cannot be given to everything else. Conscious living therefore involves deciding what deserves space in our lives.
REFLECT
Consider how you are currently using your time and attention.
• What receives most of my time at present?
• Does the way I spend my time reflect what I say matters to me?
• What might deserve more of my attention — and what might deserve less?
The purpose is not to account for every minute.
It is to notice whether the way you are living through time is consistent with the life you want to design.
